Funded Places

The Childcare Offer for Wales - Funding for 3 and 4-Year-Olds

Parents are able to claim up to 30 hours a week of funding for their 3 and 4-year-olds, split between nursery schools and private day nurseries.

Term Time Funding: During term time, children can receive 12.5 hours in a nursery school setting and up to 17.5 hours in a private day nursery setting each week. The Term Time 17.5 hours per week of funding will be available in a choice of 5 bespoke sessions per week, each lasting 3.5 hours. This allows you to select the time slots that best align with your schedule. Additionally, you can still choose from Full or Half (AM/PM) sessions.

Session Options:

7:30 AM - 11:00 AM

11:00 AM - 2:30 PM

2:30 PM - 6:00 PM

Holiday Provision Funding: When schools close for holidays, the full 30 hours of funding can be claimed in a private nursery setting. During the 'Holiday Provision' period, our normal nursery sessions will apply, and the bespoke 3.5-hour sessions will not be available.

Funding is available for 48 weeks out of the 52 weeks in a year. This means that 4 weeks are unfunded, and fees must be paid in full by the parents.

We are also introducing tiered hourly options for additional flexibility across all age groups and for those who may want to add additional time onto their booked hours through The Childcare Offer for Wales:

Session Options:

7:30 AM - 11:00 AM

11:00 AM - 2:30 PM

2:30 PM - 6:00 PM

For parents with younger children not qualifying for Childcare Offer for Wales Funding, a minimum of 2 hours per day using the tiered hourly rates will be required. However, this information is not applicable to the new 3.5-hour funded sessions.
